He was mad at the beginning when I got the cat because he said he felt left out, and 2nd best because he did not get to be included in picking out the pet but we were broke up at the time. 1 month later he says my kitten makes him very sick, and he has developed bronchitis from his allergies. My daughter and I both have allergies and suffer from asthma, we are o.k. I dust, vacuum daily, and put the cat in another room before he comes in, purchased a 2nd hepa air purifier, use allergen reducer carpet powder, febreze allergen reducer spray, and wash the cat every day. I even offered to buy him Claritin. The cat doesn’t shed much or jump on furniture either He told me to get rid of it or he’ll have to stay away because of his health, my daughter and I love the new kitten so I refuse to give it away am I wrong?

I need a new filter. The only one I have is VERY dirty. I do not want to use it b/c it might send all the crap back into the air that it has collected. The type I need is only available online. Is it ok to use the vacuum a few times before I get the new filter in the mail?

I just bought a Honeywell Air Purifier off of craigslist.com and when I turned it on, it gave off the smell of the guy’s house! So I decided to clean the filters since they are not supposed to be replaced, by rinsing them with warm water. As I was about to rinse the 2nd one, I saw a sticker on it that said to clean, run a vacuum hose down the side- DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER. Uh oh! Although I only ran water on the first one, did I ruin it? I can’t find replacement filters anywhere online!

He’s very itchy & he often gets short tempered from it. He’s allergic to dust mites, pollen, mold, rice, corn, soy, & egg. I bought a Hepa filter vacuum, encased his bedding to keep dust mites away, run air purifiers, change the furnace filter frequently, use fragrance free detergents, run clothes through a second rinse cycle, use no dryer sheets, keep baths tepid & brief, lotion with Eucerin immediately afterward, & have him wear only cotton clothes. I can honestly say NONE of this has made a difference. He starts Kindergarten in the Fall & I worry about him. How can he concentrate if he’s itchy? Keeping my child drugged on Benadryl indefinitely isn’t an option to me. I currently started him on probitotics with his allergists approval & give him 2 tsp. ground Flaxseed in his cereal every morning. I’m now trying Emu oil on him. I spend all my free time searching for answers. Has anyone found relief from dry eczema? Perhaps a Homeopathic Dr. is my next step. Thank you in advance for any help!

It was working and then it suddenly died. I cannot turn it on. I checked the hepa filter, which could use replacing. Why won’t the machine turn on?
Does it have an internal shutdown switch that needs to be reset or something?
Who can I call in the Southern Ontario / Hamilton area?
Thanks,
Andrew

I’m moving into a house with a dog, and I have allergies. However, they are not terrible and I take medicine. I’ve been searching for different ways to help my allergies. So far I have got change the floors from carpet to a hard surface, get a HEPA vacuum cleaner, get allergen pillow cases and mattress covers, replace the filters on the air conditioners, no extra clothe items in the room (including stuffed animals), get an ionic breeze air purifier.
As far as the dog goes I got give him a bath once a week, wipe him down with wet cloth daily, keep out of your bedroom, have good ventilation.
I’m open to a variety of suggestions; However, I cannot replace the dog. Besides he’s a really sweet lab. I’m open to using natural remedies, such as tea or hot peppers to specific cleaning techniques. SO PLEASE SHARE YOUR INPUT AND DIRECT ME TO RELEVANT WEBSITES!

We currently do not have a regular home vacuum because our old one had to be thrown out. We have a shop vac with a HEPA filter. Would this be safe for vacuuming our floors in the house? Do shop vacs blow anything back into the air?

My girlfriend and I have suffered from allergies for several months. We both have a post-nasal drip and cough often from it. We use a hepa-vacuum, plastic coated our mattress, have air-cleaners, removed carpets, and did all the common stuff to remove home allergins but are allergies are still there. Our family doctor can’t even figure it out. And ideas??

We are wanting to buy a new vacuum that is under 0 (closer to 0) We are looking for an upright with HEPA filter… Which should we look at at which ones should we stay away from…
Were thinking about the Bissell Velocity Dual Cyclonic, Bissell 5770Healthy Home, & the Eureka Boss Smart Vac 4870GZ… What vacuum do you use, would you reccomend, what are the pros, & cons? Thanks…
Dyson is way too expensive…
I’ve tried consumer reports but you have to subscribe to be able to read the ratings and reviews… I’ve looked online at different reviews, but was really hoping to get a review from someone with personal experience…
