With the shear number of vacuum cleaners available on the market in this day and age you would be hard pressed to not find a model that would suit your needs.

There are so many different options available to suit the requirements of a household that we really are spoilt for choice as to what model to choose. There are so many different options to choose from that provide different sorts of utilities to help you clean your house.

To start with there is the standard upright vacuum cleaner that is very popular on the market and well used around the market. It is very good for cleaning carpeted areas or hardwood floors, but is not so great at getting into corners or small gaps. For those jobs it often relies on an attachment to do that job for it.

There is the canister vacuum cleaner that is very mobile and agile. This is also a very popular model of vacuum cleaner and is often used in households all across the western world.

]]>

There is the hand held vacuum cleaner which is a miniature vacuum cleaner which is kept in a wall mount and used to clean up small spills that it is both worth getting a large vacuum clever out of the closet for. They are also very good for cleaning up small liquid spills as well.

There are wet dry vacuum cleaners which can clean up large spillages and also large amounts of debris that normal vacuum cleaners just cannot touch. They are very good at multiple purpose jobs and can be used in a variety of situations such as unblocking sinks or cleaning up basement floods. They are also very good at picking up any spillages both large and small so are very flexible in terms of what you use it for. They also come in all shapes and sizes depending on what you are looking for in s vacuum cleaner.

Backpack vacuum cleaners are extremely flexible in use and can be used in a variety of situations depending on what you need it for. They are easy to carry around and can be used in any number of environments. However they are not usually the most powerful of vacuum cleaners so what they lack in power they utilize in their mobility and ease of use.

The type of vacuum cleaner you go for will greatly depend on what you are looking for in the long term going forward.

Which vacuum cleaner or carpet cleaner is right for you?

]]>

The January sales are offering some fantastic deals on vacuum cleaners and carpet washers at the moment, with many models at half price or less. No matter how good the deal, it’s important to research the machine on offer to make sure it’s right for your needs.

Vacuum cleaners

Whether you choose an upright or cylinder vacuum cleaner tends to come down to personal preference and which type you find the most comfortable and effective for you and your home. Uprights tend to be kinder to your back during vacuuming and have a rapidly rotating brushbar that grooms the pile while you push the machine across the carpet. Cylinders are often less effort to carry up and down stairs and are easy store away after use, due to their compact size.  Whichever you prefer, there are a number of factors you should think about when picking the right model:

Pets
If you have cats or dogs you’ll know just how difficult it can be to banish their hair from your carpets and furniture. Vacuum cleaners designed for homes with pets typically have a special tool with rotating bristles that pick up pet hair as it spins. Some pet models may also have an anti-bacterial filter to trap and neutralise germs. Look out for models with a HEPA filter if you have allergies, as these high level filters trap small dirt and dust particles, helping to reduce the allergens in your home. Stairs
If you regularly vacuum a tall flight of stairs you’ll find a model with an extra long stretch hose a real bonus, as you can reach right to the top of the staircase without having to unplug the machine and move it halfway through cleaning. Check the length of the power cord too, as a longer cord will make it much easier to vacuum stairs and multiple rooms without having to stop to swap plug points, saving you both time and effort. The capacity of the dust container can also vary widely between models, so look for a larger one if you don’t like having to empty the container too often. Floor types
If you have a mixture of carpets and hard floors in your home you should check the vacuum cleaner you choose is suitable for use on hard floors. Some uprights have a brushbar control so you can switch off the rotating brushes and vacuum hard floors without risk of damage. Some have a hard floor tool that you attach to the hose for doing the same job. Many cylinder vacuum cleaners have a combination floor head that has a switch for changing between hard floor and carpet modes, and some models may have a dedicated hard floor tool.

Carpet cleaners

There are typically two types of carpet cleaners you can choose from – canister models, some of which are multi-functional and can also dry vacuum, and upright models. Canister models tend to be robust with large capacity tanks. They usually have castor wheels, so they are very stable and easy to pull along as you clean. Upright models resemble an upright dry vacuum cleaner and are typically manoeuvrable and easy to use.

Upholstery and stairs
Many carpet washers have a flexible hose and tools for cleaning upholstery and stairs, but do check the product specification carefully, as some upright models don’t have a hose and so are only suitable for cleaning flat areas of carpets. Canister models operate much like a cylinder vacuum cleaner, with a selection of tools that attach to the hose for cleaning carpets, upholstery and stairs. Spots and stains
If your carpets have areas with a lot of wear and tear, or have stubborn spots and stains, it’s worth investing in a model that is specifically designed to tackle these problems, so check the specification carefully. Upright models with brushes that gently scrub the carpet fibres, either on a rotating brushbar or on individual spinning brushes, will tend to give a deeper clean and better results than those with a static row of brushes. Some carpet cleaners have a pre-treatment system with special stain-busting solution that gets to work on soiled areas before washing with the machine. Quick clean, quick dry
If you want the quickest results from your carpet cleaner and need your carpets dry again as soon as possible, look out for models with technologies designed to speed up the washing and drying processes. These could include heated cleaning, where heat from the machine is applied to the carpet during washing, and dual air path technology, which delivers consistent suction across the entire width of the floor head.

Finding the Right Vacuum Cleaner

]]>

A good vacuum cleaner is an essential tool necessary to clean any home. It can be the one piece of equipment that makes a home fresh and neat. There is a vast market of various vacuum cleaners and it can be hard to find the right one. With the array of different vacuum cleaners on the market, it can be very difficult to choose just one, especially the right one.

The most important aspect of buying a vacuum cleaner is making sure that it will fulfill all the duties it needs to. There are several different types of vacuum cleaners and it is important to choose that style that will fit best in the way it needs to be used.

]]>

Style

The two basic styles are the upright and the canister. Decide how the vacuum will be used and choose a style with that in mind.

Bag?

Vacuums today come in either bag or bagless design. If the bag style is chosen, bags must be bought periodically, while the bagless design clearly needs none of the excess.

Duty Rating

This is important to consider when thinking of the longevity of the piece of equipment. How long is the vacuum going to be used? In what fashion is the vacuum cleaner going to be used? Answering these questions will help decide what type of duty rating is needed when purchasing a vacuum cleaner.

Suction Power

Decide how much cleaning ability the vacuum must have to complete the job at home. Is there constantly dirt on the floors, or is the house relatively clean? Answering this question will help decide how much suction power the vacuum must have.

There are many vacuums on the market today and, ultimately, it comes down to how the vacuum is going to be used in the home. The right vacuum cleaner is a matter of finding one that will fit well with you current lifestyle.

Consumer’s Guide in Choosing the Right Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Posted: Jan 11, 2010 |

]]>

Canister vacuum cleaners include a canister portion with a long wand and flexible hose. It contains the motor and bag, thus making it lighter and more portable than an upright. Since these machines have rotating brushes that can be turned on and off.

They are efficient in cleaning tiles, carpets, hardwood
floors, tight spaces, drapes, ceilings, and furniture using the right attachments.

There are a lot of canister vacuum models available in the market at present. Buying a unit may be very confusing since each model offers different features in each other. This article will give you some tips to help you in choosing the right canister model that fit your needs.

For large spaces, choose a vacuum that has long hoses and cords. Make sure that it is lightweight, easy to move around the house and can be emptied with minimal trouble. It is also important to look for strong revolving brushes for deep cleaning of carpets and rugs.

If you or anyone in the household has allergies or asthma, choose a canister vac with true HEPA filter to make sure that the air being exhausted back in the room is clean.

If you are sensitive to dust particles, you may choose a bagged vacuum over a bagless one because emptying the canister of bagless model may expose yourself to dust.

When choosing between bagged and bagless canister vacuums, compare the cost of replacing bags against the cost of replacing filters. They may have similar cost maintenance so choose the model which is more convenient to use and do not require much cleaning job.

Check on the tools and attachments that come with the unit. Make an assessment as to which tool will suit your cleaning needs. Depending on the type of floor surfaces you plan to clean, there are three kinds of tools available in the market. These are:

1. Plastic brush that is about 10-12 inches wide with soft bristles is recommended for smooth surfaces.

2. Turbo brush with spinning drum roller and hard bristles that is perfect for wall to wall cleaning of carpet.

3. A power head brush is also efficient in wall-to-wall carpeting especially if you have pets at home. This is powered by separate motor.

Before purchasing a unit, do as much research on the different models as you can. Get feedback from users as to which brand or model is best recommended and most effective.

Buying a good vacuum cleaner is a pretty big investment. Know what you really need and always compare one unit with another. So go and suck up dirt with your new vacuum cleaner!

Upright Vacuum Cleaner – Which One is Right for You?

Posted: Jun 17, 2010 |

]]>

Different people have different opinions about the best type of vacuum cleaner. Truth is, an ideal vacuum is a concept that is different depends on needs and situations. When it comes to choices, there are canister vacuum, backpack vacuum and upright vacuum cleaner.

Do you require something that is easier to push? Perhaps it requires less pulling and bending? If so, upright vacuum is the answer. Forget the old model though. Technology has advanced enough that over the years, design has changed. It is now simple and easy to use and very versatile. Besides preferences, before buying upright vacuum cleaner, you need to understand your requirements first.

Personally, I like upright model because it has a hose with various attachable accessories for cleaning different areas of the home. You can even clean ceiling fans, corners, tight spaces, and baseboards with the right attachment. Need to clean the stairs? Many upright vacuum cleaners have some type of adjustment for multistory homes. It pays to spend some time doing research to make sure a vacuum has all the features you need before you get it.

]]>

One frequently asked question is whether you should choose a model with bag or bagless. In recent years, the bagless model has gained popularity among many households.

What is the difference? In short, with the bagless model, you gather all the dust in a canister on the body and empties it periodically. Because replacing the bag is not necessary, you will save some money. On the other hand, allergy sufferers prefer bag model with seal because emptying it will be much less messy. For allergy sufferers, perhaps the answer is obvious. Rest assured though that none of any model works better than the other.

Finally, let’s talk about price. The cost of an upright vacuum cleaner varies by a great divide. The most basic models have less features and tools, but it definitely costs much less. You may want to shell out for more, up to the thousands of dollars, for performance and convenience features.

Again, search around to get the best vacuum you budget can buy. Vacuum cleaner can last for a few years to a decade or more. Don’t forget to check out the warranty. Some people feel that spending on high-end product with full warranty is a wiser decision. It’s a matter of personal choice.

Helpful Tips in Choosing the Right Steam Vacuum Cleaner

]]>

Having a pet at home can be a pain in the neck especially if you have carpeted floor. In this case, cleaning is a very heavy household chore since pet dander can stick to your carpet and mattress. An ordinary vacuum cleaner cannot remove pet odors from carpet. A good household solution for pet owners is to use a steam vacuum cleaner as it can remove pet dander and at the same time disinfecting your floor.

Steam vacuum cleaners work using a mixture of hot water and detergent with some mechanical action to loosen up dirt in the carpet. It washes the fibers and then vacuums up the mixture. Some models have rotating brushes that agitate the carpet for better cleaning results.  Steam vacuum cleaners available in the market come in various types and sizes. The two most common types available are upright and canister steam vacuum cleaners.

Upright steam cleaners have suction motor, tanks, main nozzle and resembles like its counterpart. The spray nozzle where the mixture is fed is located directly behind the suction nozzle. Some types have special hose and smaller nozzle with detachable brushes for cleaning upholstery and stairs.

]]>

A canister steam cleaner has a hose and nozzle that are separated from the tank and suction motor housed inside a case and is pulled along with you when you use it. Some deluxe types have rotating brush in the nozzle and are much easier to move across the carpet when cleaning. The disadvantage of the canister type is that they are not as convenient to set-up and store as the upright type since the hose is usually very long.

Below are some tips to help you choose the best steam vacuum cleaner for your cleaning needs.

1. The steam cleaner should have a good brushing system efficient to remove dirt.

2. Make sure that it has a good water heat booster to increase temperature for better cleaning.  The hotter the water, the better cleaning results.

3. Always check if the steam cleaner has a good suction and vacuum for faster drying ability.

4. It is also important that the cleaner has a large water container especially if you are cleaning a large area to avoid refilling it with water from time to time.

5.  Make sure that the cord of the steam vacuum cleaner that you are going to purchase is long enough and could be plugged into another room away from the damp carpet and water in the steam cleaner. Having a long cord would also make it easier for you transfer from one room to another.

Steam vacuum cleaner can be one of the most helpful household tools especially for pet owners. You are ensured of a better smell of your carpet which will make your stay in your home more relaxing. So take some time in choosing the best steam vacuum cleaner for your home and it will be worth it.

How to choose the right vacuum cleaner

Since the invention of the vacuum cleaner technology has allowed for various types and models to be released on the market place. With so many needs and uses for the common day hoover it can be difficult finding the right one for the job. You may be mistaken for thinking that any vacuum that sucks air will do the job, this could not be further from the truth. For a truly effective vacuum cleaner that will perform the duties required of it efficiently you will need to do some prior research. Like many home appliances purchasing the most expensive vacuum does not ensure you get the best performance. Read on for my short guide on purchasing the right vacuum cleaner.

Type of vacuum cleaner

There are 2 types of vacuum cleaner gracing the market these days. You have your standard upright vacuum cleaner and your pull along with separate hose cleaner. If you are using a vacuum for cleaning carpets then your best choice would be an upright iteration. Although bulkier than canister based vacuum cleaners, they have been proven to be more effective than canister iterations. For all general purpose then you could go for the standard canister and hose version of vacuums. More expensive models of this type of hoover offer the same performance as your upright version and are easily maneuverable round the home as well as producing less noise.

]]>

Bag canister or not?

With both types of vacuums you will need to decide what kind of storage medium is most suited for you cleaning. With versions of hoover with no bag you will find they hold less than a conventional bag hoover as well release more dust into the air when unit has to be emptied. With bag versions of vacuums you have to replace the bag every so often depending on use leading to a reoccurring cost as long as you use it. If you or any of your family suffer from allergies then it is best advised to stick to a bag type vacuum as they release less dust particles when change of bag is necessary.

Types of filter installed with your vacuum cleaner

Depending on the brand on model of vacuum you will find variations on filter capabilities included. For those that want a filter that is friendly to allergies then perhaps you may want to insure your vacuum unit has a HEPA filter. There are other types of filter available, some being unique to a brands technology. Before purchasing your very own vacuum insure you understand your needs and wants to find the best possible unit for you and your families needs. By taking the time to research various models of vacuum you will be making a wise investment long term.

There is always going to be an occasion where a person who is around you makes a mess. It is going to happen whether you like it or not as not everyone is tidy and not everyone is not clumsy. So it is important to have the right kind of tools and equipment available to use when the situation arises and something needs clearing up.

A great tool for cleaning up small messes an spills is a wonderful device called a handheld vacuum cleaner. What they lack on size, they certainly make up in power and functionality. They are amazing at cleaning up smaller messes that it would just be too much hassle to get a bigger vacuum cleaner out for.

It often takes a lot of time ad inconvenience to get a large vacuum cleaner out of the closet to use on a small mess or spill, so having a handheld vacuum cleaner around can save you a lot of bother in that sense.

These handheld vacuum cleaners are great for cleaning up dry spills that occur, however they should not be used to clean up liquid spills. For these kind of jobs, wet dry vacuum cleaners are the better too for that particular kind of task.

If you have hard wood flooring or carpeting in your household, then having a handheld vacuum cleaner can be extremely helpful to use for those small dry spills that occur on hard types of surface.

You will find that a handheld vacuum cleaner simply glides over flooring and a small mess will take less than a minute to clean up. It is so easy to use and operate and afterwards it can be hung up ready to be used again another time. This is because there is often a wall mount fitting that comes with the hand held vacuum cleaner to enable you to hang up the hand held vacuum cleaner to enable you to easily access the machine in case of emergency.

To find the best hand held vacuum cleaner to suit your needs, then make sure you check out the various reviews available to see which ones are rated the best available on the market. They come in different shapes and sizes and come with different power outputs depending on what you need from a hand held vacuum cleaner.

The top brands on the market tend to have the hand held vacuum cleaners with the most power and will usually last the little bit longer. But the usual standard to go by is that the more you pay for a hand held vacuum cleaner the longer it will tend to last over time. So investing a little extra money in a good quality hand held vacuum cleaner could be very beneficial

It’s natural for carpets to get dirty, considering all the dirt our feet bring into the house. If you have pets, your carpets get filthier much sooner. Fortunately, vacuum cleaners make the job of keeping carpets clean enough for babies to crawl on as easy as ever. However, before you even set foot into a retail store, it is important to research your needs and the vacuums that can meet them. Just like buying any household appliance, large or small, there are many options available on the market. Not doing your research ahead of time can lead to confusion when you arrive on the vacuum aisle of your local department store.

Here are some tips to help you next time you’re in the market for a new vacuum.

Assessing Your Needs

When deciding which vacuum to purchase, you first need to consider what you need. The type of carpet you have makes a difference. Think about the thickness and texture of your carpet. You may need a model with more power if you have thick carpet that allows dirt to settle, or if your household is extraordinarily dirty. If you have pets or allergies, you might consider a vacuum with special filter options. In addition, vacuums aren’t just for carpet anymore. Do you have hardwood, tile or laminate flooring? There are vacuums that allow you to turn off the brush rotation as to eliminate floor scratching and damage.

Overview of the Types of Vacuums

Once you have an idea of your needs, there are the many types of vacuums to consider. Canister models can suck up larger bits of material, but may not offer the filtering or other attachments you need. Handheld models are used mostly for small spills and in between cleanups. Most households use a standard upright vacuum for their routine carpet cleaning. Even so, there are many different models to choose from. It all comes down to a matter of personal preference. There are bagless vacuums that allow you to see the dirt as it accumulates inside the canister. This helps you know when to empty it. Traditional bagged vacuums seem to be going out of style, as most consumers prefer the newer models with HEPA filters that eliminate pet dander and other allergens.

Accessories and Attachments

Finding an upright vacuum that has the suction power you need plus the filters you want is a good start. You should also consider if you need any additional special features or attachments. Most models will come with a few standard attachments that allow you to use the vacuum in smaller places and on furniture. If you have a high ceiling and need to vacuum cobwebs or the tops of curtains, make sure the hose and attachment reach is tall enough for your needs.`
